Connecting to culture through the art of Ethiopian cuisine
Join African Village Centre Restaurant’s very own Mohamed Beyan for a personal guided workshop on cooking ‘Doro wat’, a rich Ethiopian curry enjoyed with rice or tranditional Injera bread!
African Village Centre Restaurant’s is grounded in cultural expression and a deep connection to Ethiopian and Eritrean, lovingly cultivated by the Beyan family here in Adelaide. At its heart is Mohamed Beyan, chef and family patriarch, who learned from his elders, carrying their teachings with her as the family migrated to Australia.
Through African Village Centre Restaurant’s, he has passed these traditions on to his family as a continued practice of connecting to culture. Together, they showcase the art of Ethiopian cuisine while sharing its spirit of generosity and hospitality with the wider community. Passed down through generations, these food rituals weave connections to the past while fostering belonging and community in the present.
Join Mohamed to cook together, share stories, share a meal, and experience the rich cultural threads of Ethiopia through its cuisine.
